The Story
The inspiration behind the creation of Bodegas Martamate began in 2008. They had been successfully making wines from their vineyard in Gumiel de Mercado for several years but, in 2008, they used the best of these grapes to create an exclusive wine, limited to the production of only 3,000 bottles. In May 2013, their ideas literally came to fruition: they acquired premises in Tubilla del Lago, Burgos, within the Ribera del Duero wine appellation area. Bodega marta maté was born: a simple, flat building in the middle of the countryside dedicated solely to the production of a limited quantity of top quality wine. Their aim is to promote biodiversity, allowing life and micro-organisms to develop in the vines. They don't use chemicals, so that the vines can express themselves fully. This also applies to the vinification process, with very little intervention on the part of the winemakers.
