The Story

More than 100 years ago, along the road from Avignon to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Jean-Louis Geniest, from a long line of coopers-Cordeliers, decided to regroup the family lands for vinification. Over the generations, new acquisitions and various exchanges have made it possible to acquire a magnificent estate all in one piece, around the famous Mas Saint-Louis. Today, and since the death of her husband Jean, great-grandson of Jean-Louis, the owner is Ms. Monique Geniest. At the age of 87, she is still the first decision-maker in the estate, not hesitating to slip sometimes into the cellar, sometimes into the vines, to ensure the continuity of her in-laws' work. This sacred lady - who until Jean's death had absolutely no involvement in the field - is surrounded by a solid and expert team. Matthieu Faurie-Grépon, cellar master since 2011, undertakes with Madame a real restructuring of the estate, favoring a constant improvement of the quality of the soils and crops - as natural as possible -, a modernization of the equipment ... in short, all the work necessary to produce wines of impeccable quality.
