ITALIAN WINES : THE OTHER PART OF OUR PORTFOLIO
We presented, in our last newsletter, a preview of our Spanish portfolio, with detailed information on some of our producers, following the Barcelona Wine Week!
Besides France and Spain, our book also includes Italy. Vinitaly just happened, and many of our producers attended the event !
We are happy to go deeper with the presentation of some of our winemakers.
Let’s take a look at our portfolio, which is covering all the wine regions of the country, and includes renowned winemakers.
**TENUTA CAPPELLINA : SOUTHERNMOST CHIANTI **
Located at the southernmost limit of the Chianti Classico appellation, South of Siena, Tenuta Cappellina is a small, privately owned winery.
The vineyard of 10 hectares, mainly planted with native grapes Sangiovese and Canaiolo, is producing three Chianti Classico and three IGT. With warm soils and climate, the wines crafted are intense and powerful!
The winery has changed the way the vineyard was worked by promoting the biodiversity in them, being surrounded by natural forests and most importantly being certified organic now!
Attilio Pagli is the master behind the wines : the oenologist is renowned throughout Italy and South America and has studied under Giulo Gambello, one of the elite oenologists of Italy.
Attilio was awarded in Decanter magazine‘s list of the world‘s best winemakers, and has two 100-points wine under his name!

POGGIO RIDENTE : CECILIA ZUCCA‘S PIEDMONT WINES
Cecilia Zucca’s winery is first of all a family history : the family remained involved in the agriculture activities even when moving from the countryside to the city.
The winery is only run by women : the 13 hectares are located over 450 meters high, solely in Monferrato. The vineyards covers the tops and the slopes of the hills, and alternate with forests. This allows to have an excellent climate and geological display, and the area is nicknamed the Monferrato Riviera due to these particular conditions!
Completely farmed organically and biodynamically, Cecilia is producing Barbera, Albarossa, Pinot Nero, Viognier or Riesling, for different appellations of the area.
The wines are from an outstanding area of production, and we would be thrilled to sell more of it in the US!
MONTI CECUBI : ROMAN EMPIRE’S INFLUENCES
Monti Cecubi is a winery located in the Lazio region, South of Rome. This area was the land of the ancient Cecubo wine, which was indicated as the best wine of the Roman Empire.
With 20 hectares of vineyard certified organic, the winery is now owned by the Schettino family : they selected the ancient local wines to produce the Cecubo wine as it was produced back in the days.
The wines are produced in DOC Lazio, and unless the rest of the region (mainly known for Malvasia), Monti Cecubi grows native grape, such as Serpe, Abbuoto and Falanghina, that are not very common in the area.
If your looking for an atypical winery, this is the one !
ABBRUZZO AND PUGLIA : MENICUCCI FAMILY
Established in 1970, Antonio Menicucci planted his first grapes in Ortona, in the Abbruzzo region of Italy. The winery is still family-run nowadays,
The Menicucci vineyards stretch over 20 hectares of vineyards in the Abbruzzo, with textured terroirs of limestone subsoils and rocky surface.
With the influence of the sea, the limited rainfall and the high temperatures range, the quality of the grapes is oustanding!
The Menicucci family produces 100% CCPB certified organic wine, from the native Abruzzesi grapes; Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Trebbiano D’Abruzzo, Pecorino Terre Di Chieti and Passerina Terre Di Chieti.
Apart from producing wines, they partner with many winemakers throughout Italy, offering a large range of wines, from Sicily to Veneto, via Sardinia and Puglia : all in one point of pick-up, at the Menicucci estate !
Along with love and passion for making great wines, this winery pledges to deliver unforgettable memories and superior quality to wine lovers around the world, linking it to the passion for art, as many labels were designed by artists.
A wide range of wine that are worth taking a look at !
SESSANTACAMPI : THE VENETIAN BUBBLES
What is better than finishing this little Italian tour with some bubbles?
The Zago family has always lived along the Piave River, in Venetia, north of Venice and is established in the town of Candelù. The winery was actually established in the middle of the 19th century, but started producing exclusively grapes in 1973. Today, 2nd generation Federico and Chiara Zago are leading the winery.
Chiara and Federico grow a variety of grapes on their 25 hectares : from the Manzoni Bianco and Raboso to the Pinot Grigio and the Glera, the noble white grape used to make the famous Prosecco.
The range includes sparkling, whites, reds and rosés in IGT Veneto and Marca Trevigiana, but the main production of the winery is the sparkling wines, which are coming in DOC Prosecco Spumante, DOC Prosecco Frizzante, and Pinot Grigio delle Venezie!
