Domaine Loew is a family winery located next to Strasbourg. It was founded in 1996 by Etienne Loew, coming from a family with a rich history dating back to the 18th century. The estate of 6.5 hectares is spread out on 5 villages, with many various terroirs, but all the same subsoil of marl. Etienne is very attached to the protection of his land: the estate has been farmed biodynamically since 1996.
Presentation
In Alsace, the lieux-dits called «Altenberg», literally «old mountain» are historically those which have always been farmed as vineyards. Bergbieten is cited in archives as of the 11th century, is a city near Strasbourg.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested, indigenous yeasts only. Nature wine. Harvested only in fruit days, according to the Biodynamic calendar. Fermented all winter with ageing on lees until summer.
