Régis Poissinet run this family estate that started in 1947 : the 35 years-old vineyard of 7 hectares is split into 35 plots and is certified organic and biodynamic. It expands on 5 villages, on the different clay-chalk and silt-chalk terroirs. It is mainly planted with Pinot Meunier, following by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With the arrival of Régis, the way of working the vines has changed: rigorous respect of the environment, abandon of herbicides, use of the horse to work the soil.
Presentation
In Greek mythology, Iris, messenger of the gods, symbolized the link between the earth and the heavens, between man and the gods. Irizée is the very first cuvee of the new era of Champagne Régis Poissinet. And as our ambassador it perfectly embodies our vision, our engagement and our values. Luminous, upright and free-spirited, yet solidly rooted in its terroir, it transcends convention with audacity. Irizée is adorned with the work of the French artist Daniel Castan which, through the vision of a stream of light, symbolizes the invisible link between the earth, humanity and the heavens.
Winemaking
The wine is aged in oak barrel and in vats. Made from 100% Pinot Meunier, Irizée is a rare gem crafted from a meticulous selection of the best juices of the 2013 vintage, known as the ‘hearts’ of the vintage. The wine is aged for 50% in barrel and 50% in vats. The bottles are unfiltered, turned by hand to stir the lees, and very lightly dosed (3,4g/l). On the 18 April 2017, 1,702 bottles of extra-brut from the 2013 vintage were disgorged.
