The Mestre/Gasparri Family is among the oldest in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Its members have been cultivating the vines there for several generations and have passed down the vineyard from generation to generation. Taking over the family brand, Corinne & Yannick with their son Jules now run the estate. They have a number of different vineyards many of which have old vines, the oldest being 80 year old Grenache and Mourvèdre vines.

Presentation

Domaine de la Côte de l’Ange owns 13.5 hectares of vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and an additional 2.5 hectares of vines located in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation. 1.5 hectares are devoted to the growing of white wine grapes. The remaining 12 hectares are used in the production of red Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine.

Vinification

Hand-picked and sorted, Light pressing at very low pressure is used. The juice is then cold settled and transferred to concrete stainless vessels where alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is then partially transferred (in a small proportion) to half-muids for 6 to 8 months of aging prior to final blend and bottling.
