The Story

Domaine de la Paleine, historically known as Moulins de la Palenne, is a gem of a vineyard in the heart of Anjou. On its 38 hectares, it carefully cultivates the chenin and cabernet franc grape varieties, emblematic of the region, complemented by a few varieties for fine bubbles. Since converting to organic farming in 2013, and then to biodynamic farming in 2017, the estate has made the most of an exceptional terroir composed of a variety of soils, from sandy Turonian chalk to flint-rich clay. Guided by a respectful approach to nature, the vineyard favors grass cover, manual work and techniques that encourage soil life. Hand-picked grapes guarantee quality wines that reflect the identity of the Saumur and Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame appellations. Under the direction of Jean-Louis Bernet since 2023, the estate continues its commitment to sustainable viticulture and excellence, drawing on the history and richness of the Loire Valley.
